Deutschland Hochzeit

IMG_1467-2

A week ago Falk and Sammy celebrated the first of two weddings. This first wedding was to be the official wedding and took place in Germany. In attendance Falk’s Family and friends, and a close friend of Sammy’s. The second wedding will be in early July in Florida with Sammy’s friends and family and a few members of Falk’s (family). The second wedding will only be a mock wedding (so Dad can walk Sammy down the aisle and family can feel a part of wedding).

Coincidentally both Weddings will be taking part on holidays, things just sorta worked out that way. The Deutsch wedding Friday February the 14th, valentines day and the American wedding July 4th.  Sammy has long had her wedding dress before choosing an exact date with Falk, and the dress happened to be a shade of pink. The wedding decorations were  red, white and pink shades. Falk’s younger brother TIll photographed the entire wedding.

It was truly a magical day for Sammy and her new hubby.  All the decorations and arrangements came together beautifully on the day of the wedding. Sammy’s new Mother-in-law was to thank for that. She found most of the Decor at markets and discount stores. Fresh cherry blossoms were picked to decorate a vase at the middle of the table and pink roses were planted everywhere in between. Sammy’s dress was pre-owned and a treasure find on eBay. The matching choker and earrings worn by the bride were made by Sammy and her Mother-in-law.

One Year Anniversary

January 6th, Today is the day. The Day Sammy has imagined for 12 months. Sammy had often wondered how her and Falk’s relationship would be in one year. Imagining if things would work out, or if a marriage would be in store (indeed it is).

It is a small milestone, yet many have preceded already. This blog post today will review some photos as a reflection of the past year for Falk and Sammy. The photos will descend in a semi-chronological order.

And so after one year together Falk and sammy still giggle and play together just like when they first fell in love. They still hold an open communication, and their motto is “Just because it is good doesn’t mean it cannot be better”. They try to better themselves and their relationship continuously. Taking it one day at a time; appreciating the life they have together.

How we Met

December 7th, It was summer in Brisbane, Australia and the weekend before Sammy’s 22 birthday.   A few of Sammy’s close friends took her out into town for some drinks and dancing. They decided on a good backpackers bar that was known for its lively atmosphere and cheap as they come drinks. The bars name is Down Under Bar & grill, it is located in the heart of Brisbane. Small, and charmingly covered in an assortment of flags, signatures and bras of past backpackers.  Alas it is a perfect spot to dance the night away.

16163_576428532373143_16366702_n Upon ordering drinks Sammy’s best friend decides that she shall play the “22 birthday kisses” game. A game where the objective is to receive as many kisses as years old you are. The game started off with a bang as Chelsea introduced Sammy to a random dude at the bar.

“Hi this is my friend and it is her birthday so you should kiss her.”

The stranger was on that offer like a hobo on a ham sandwich.

One slobbery wet kiss down, 21 more to go.

As the night continued on and Sammy had a few more drinks the game became increasingly more fun. Chelsea did a great job of introducing Sammy to prospective Kissers. Most of the kisses were sweet little pecks on the cheek, as would seem appropriate for a young lady. BUT this is a backpacker bar so of course some dudes took the chance of a tongue slip. Not preferable but it was a special occasion. No complaints from Sammy. Somewhere around 19 the girls met Falk.

Get a load of this sexy tall devil, Sammy was thinking. Ever so politely  Falk inquired about Sammy’s relationship status (Er..In a relationship technically at that point, with plans for a break up). Chelsea answered honestly and Sammy got away with a peck on the cheek from the Mysterious man with the accent.

Fast Forward to the next weekend.

The second encounter.                                                                                                                                           Sammy and Chelsea headed out on the next saturday night to the same bar, after the official birthday party (luau themed because I never had a summer birthday before) hosted by her friends.  With luau outfits and the birthday sash on again in hopes of more free drinks the girls set out to Down Under.

That night was as typical night out in Brissy. It was around 4am when a really tall guy leaned over and said to Sammy “Oh, is it your birthday again?”

346847160904379121_268765953huh?

“You were here last weekend with a birthday badge, is it a trick for free drinks?” Said the tall man with a smirk and a wink.

Hmm. Sammy had been figured out.

“Why yes actually it is much closer to my true birthday today. Who says you can’t celebrate two weeks in a row.”  Replied Sammy.

“Well then let me buy you a drink.”

So for the rest of the evening Sammy and Falk flirted and chated. About guns mostly. When it was closing time for the bar, Sammy and Chelsea were preparing to leave. Falk didn’t offer a number but said he would see the girls around since he often went to that bar.Sammy boldly gave over her number. The three set out across town to the night bus station.

Later that morning Sammy sent the eager first text.  😉

And so that was how Falk and Sammy met in the land down under, so hot the sun turns you to leather.
